Safety Guardrails in Autonomous Security Testing
How XBOW prevents harmful, destructive, or out-of-scope actions against a target system
Autonomous AI can identify and validate vulnerabilities at machine speed, but it must also operate safely. Security teams need confidence that testing will remain within authorized scope, protect sensitive data, and avoid disrupting production systems.
This whitepaper explains how XBOW applies a defense-in-depth approach to autonomous penetration testing through layered safety controls, scope enforcement, and continuous validation. It details the principles and safeguards that allow AI agents to operate responsibly while demonstrating real exploitability.
